At Living Word Ministries, our Women’s Ministry
gathers together for what they call Mom to Mom. Mom to Mom is a
group designed for moms of all ages that meets monthly on the 3rd
Thursday of each month at 6:30pm. The group is intended to encourage
moms in whatever stage of motherhood they may be in, whether their
children are infants, toddlers, school age, high school, or married.
We also encourage the involvement of young ladies and older single
and married women who don't yet have children so they can begin
to glean principles of motherhood for the future.
Grandmas are VERY much welcome as "older women" to help
in sharing wisdom.
We encourage the “older moms” to participate in training
the younger moms to fulfill the exhortation in Titus 2 to "love
their husbands, love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers,
good and obedient to their own husbands."
Along with encouraging moms, the group also exists to build friendships,
offer prayer support, help with common issues of motherhood, and
have fun.
A typical meeting will have a brief topic or lesson on something
dealing with motherhood and/or marriage. Sometimes, there will be
a testimony or short video instead. We also like to have a time
of open discussion so moms can bring up questions or ask advice,
if needed.
Often, that is followed by a craft or game.
A few times a year, we like to shake things up and go on an outing
to a restaurant or coffee shop instead of the usual Mom to Mom meeting,
and this is always a fun night.
Our group also organizes baby showers for each baby born whether
it is the first baby or the tenth, as we believe that every child
born is a gift from God and should be celebrated. We do traditional
baby showers with cake and games and we also do creative showers
such as frozen meal showers for families with special needs. We
also organize meals for new moms so they don't have to cook that
first week after having a baby. Whatever we do, we do to encourage
moms and to strengthen their relationships with each other and with
God.
The group is lead by Misti Konsavage and Lisa Perdue.
